I've never had a problem taking my Enbrel on the plane. I'm not sure if Enbrel provided you with a blue travel bag but usually once you present that to security, they don't question it. I was asked once to provide proof that it was my medicine and that it was prescribed to me but I explained my situation and they let me go.

Not sure about shoe removal. Again, if you explain why you can't remove your shoes, they might just let you keep them on. Doesn't hurt to try!

Sad to say, but I do not think TSA will let you go through security without taking off your shoes. My sister has a friend, whose husband has an artificial leg. Even after showing it to TSA, they made him take it off. My mother's neighbor had to remove her artificial leg (from the knee down). If you can get a pair of rubber 'flip flops' that are fairly cushy, you could probably put those on to go through the line. When I have gone through the lines, is is probably about 6 feet, or so, that requires no shoes. I understand completely about the feet pain!!!

shoes: can you get no ties, you know for guys what loafers, i mean i use slides which I do think exist for guys (teva? men's?)

your meds: next time if you have plenty of time ahead, enbrel
specialty pharmacy may split your order and ship to your in case of vacation addie on ice if you pay the shipping (I have done this with humira, with enbrel and with orencia but I don't know who your specialty pharmacy is, mine allowed this).

though i do have a travel bag for each of the biologics with the tiny ice pack.

I flew out of the country in Oct. I did use the wheelchair service thru the airline which I highly recommend. It's free w/your ticket and speeds things up a lot. Especially security. But you will have to stand and take off your shoes and go thru the metal detector. It was about 10 steps all told & 30 seconds in that machine. No getting around it. I asked. The wheelchair driver not TSA. They tend to get weird w/questions like that. If you have trouble standing or bending TSA employees will help you. I wore slides with my compression socks which made things easier.

The meds can go in your carry on as long as they're in the original package and have your name on them. I used the travel bag for my last trip. I'm on infusions now so it wasn't an issue. But all my other meds were in a ziploc bag in my carry on. They honestly didn't bat an eye. The wheelchair assistance might have helped that tho.

Have a great trip. For a flight that distance, definitely wear compression socks and get up & move around often. A travel pillow helped bunches. I even got a matching blanket..$20 for the pair. Pack everything you "might" need in your carry on. You never know! My flight was only 4hrs but felt like an eternity

Hi, you can get a TSA preapproval which allows you to go through a special lane if the airport has one. I fell going through the scanner and the agent was kind enough to hold my hands for balance. Good luck. Do your shoes slip on and off?

Just came back from Florida, I used the wheelchair service and it did speed things up..They said they would help me stand and walk to the x-ray booth if I needed help.. I took off my shoes (slipped off) and I was only in the booth like 15 seconds. they had the wheelchair right on the opposite side for me, had no problem. If I did not have the wheelchair I never would have made it through the security lines...I skipped my mtx injection for the time I was gone..I took it before I left as I did not want to carry the syringe and mtx in the carry on..
