anyone ever tryed this cream that has anti imflamatory and pain meds mixed together? it gets brought to your home through the company that makes it and has no name. it is a prescription medication. I have never heard of this untill my Rheumy asked me to try instead of steriod injections in my hands.

It just seems that type of medication would not really absorb all that well into your skin. Maybe a bit, but enough for the pain relief you are looking for?

its not a trial, its a prescription mix in a tube of cream, Im supposed to get it today. the pharmacist called yesterday to tell me how to use it.I will let everybody know how and if it works.

I've never heard of a cream with meloxicam in it, but I use Voltaren gel, which had diclofenac in it. Diclofenac and meloxicam are both NSAIDS, the same drug family as ibuprofen. They work by decreasing inflammation, which kills pain. Are you saying the cream your doctor prescribed has both meloxicam and another pain medicine in it? It sounds like your doctor is having a special cream made for you by a compounding pharmacy.

The Voltaren gel does work pretty well for me, but only on joints that are close to the surface- hands, wrists, and knees. It's actually available over the counter in Canada- I bought some quite cheaply last time I was in Vancouver. It's definitely not enough to replace my regular pain medicine, but I had to stop taking oral NSAIDS due to an ulcer, and the Voltaren has been a nice helper. I hope your meloxicam cream works for you!

That's interesting! I gather it's compounded. Love compounding pharmacists! Have a few as friends and they are not 'run-o-the-mill'.

If it does the trick then you are skipping the entire ulcer risk!! Awesome!

My daughter had TMJ surgery twice within a year and still has suffers off and on with the pain. Her oral surgeon prescribed something like that to put on her face she had an allergic reaction to it but I have used it. It won't take the place of pain meds when I'm in a lot of pain but if its mild if does seem to help we has to have it compounded too.
