Way back, in a galaxy far far away I used to try to do all the main cooking and prep work on Sunday - that way getting supper together would be easy. Now if my daughter doesn't cook, I either order out or I put something simple together if I know in advance that I'll be the one cooking. If it were up to me I wouldn't cook or even eat, it's not a big deal for me but because my grandkids are here until after the dinner hour I have to make sure they eat well.

One of the things I used to do with pot roast, was brown it and place it in a gallon size ziploc bag along with all the veggies and seasonings and freeze it. On the day I would use it, I put it in the fridge the day before to defrost and then the next day I put everything in the crock pot and throw the bag away, wha la! Dinner...

I have always wanted to try do all my meals Sunday......then freeze them, making my week a lot easier.....I just never have the gumption to do all that work. :( I do buy some pre packaged meals (not the healthiest) and I love casseroles where I can make them all in one pot. (much easier clean up) And we do take out one or two times a week. (again not the healthiest thing)

I do a marathon on the weekend and freeze what we don't eat During the week, I do things that are easy to fix and can serve for more than one meal - liked grilled chicken breasts or London broil

Yes, we are working on easier, quicker meals too. After working so much, I am just beat afterwards and do not feel like cooking!! Good ideas!

The one positive thing about my husband not having a job is that he almost always has dinner ready when I get home. I also have 17yr old son who loves to cook. Cleaning not so much. Any quick recipe ideas out there?

I think we all take shortcuts in the kitchen and appreciate any tips other can share. I get into the "cooking" mode and make several mesls at once. BTW never have learned to cut down the size of what I prepare even that my kids are gone. Thanks for the post. hugs, marcia

I like to do casseroles and soups. My mom always had a refrigerator full of great left-overs, and I try to do the same, and cooking for 4 isn't much more than cooking for 2.

I like to do this too. I do better in the winter with soups and stews than in the summer. In the summer, I just tend to grill and it doesn't carry over as well. But in the winter, hey, a big pot of chili can make several meals! There's chili with crackers, chili with cornbread, chili dogs, chili over bake potatoes, the list goes on!
And for those of you with families, yes, they can learn to eat the same thing two nights in a row. It won't cause permanent damage!
