Hello friends!

I have a question about methotrexate and infections. I have been on oral meth for 3 weeks then started injections for about three weeks now the other night before going tobed I noticed that my scar from my hysterectomy was hurting so I was feeling it and my hand was wetthere was puse and it smelled bad I know this is gross but its freaking me out ,I had my hyster a year and half ago no problems unitl now. Is this what they mean about skin infections just appering?? Thanks Marie

I wonder if you might have had a very small pocket of infection under the incision for a while and it is flaring up because of the mtx. At any rate, call the doctor ASAP. This needs medical attention.

I agree w/Purple Kitty - definitely get it checked by doc asap. Most likely it was something just below the surface that MTX brought out.

I had a similar problem. I started MTX shots & then had a Large boil like grow right along side of my scar from Histo. It was filled with puss ALSO very squishy did.t tell doc, very bed girl here. It broke one day & drained & left a scar the size of $.50 piece
ugly. came back one more time & did same thing. I think it was a cyst or Boil.
we have to watch out for infections.
Now I keep getting either yeast or fungus & doc is treating them. But I want to stop Them. Any sugestions?

After I had my hysterectomy they had to go back in and remove one of my ovaries - which had been fine 3 months before during the hyst. Well we all discovered that I am one of the 1% of people who produce hugs amounts of scar tissue above and beyond need. So they had to cut away scar tissue to get to the ovary and knicked my bowel. So what does all this have to do with your surprise infection?

When my bowel was knicked the body sends cells to build a wall around it and lead it out - called a fistula. I developed one above my incision, ended up in the hospital blich. That was in a month but, another but...5 years later a fistula had formed leading to my other ovary - it actually started when the other one did but didn't really bother me until later. So my point is that your pocket of infections may be fistulas that started forming after your hysterectomy. If that is the case you may need heavy duty antibiotics (IV kind) and possibly surgery to clean it up.

I don't know if an Ob/gyn or a GP would recognize this, you might need a surgeon to look at it ...probably an ultrasound - that's what they used on me.

So get yourself to the ER if you can or at least your dr. Let us know ho it goes...
