I get stiff behind the knees and I told my doctor about it but he didn't seem to be too concerned. Ofcourse I am just starting Remicade so maybe he is just waiting for it to fully kick in. I also have osteoarthritis but I don't think that would do it.

Hi! The only thing i had pain behind the left knee from was a Bakers cyst. My Rheumy said that he could either drain it for me or I could wait a few weeks and it would drain itself. I chose the waiting a few weeks and it did go away. That was about 18 years ago and haven't had any since. Hopefully you find out what is causing your pain.

I frequently have stiffness in different areas of the knee. The knee is complex, and has a lot of opportunies for inflammation. If the pain seems to be about what you experience in other areas that have RA related inflammation, I would wait a bit and see if it gets better. You sound like you are being careful to not further injure it.

But if the pain is worse than other areas, or becoming unbearable, see your Rheumy. It is possible to have a corticosteriod (sp) shot, which may do wonders. I had one in my back a few months ago that helped me much more than I expected.

And there could be a more serious problem, but again that would be causeing (I think) serious pain. Stiffness is usually due to inflammation.

I had horrible stiffness and pain behind one knee. It was a baker's cyst. I waited and it erupted on it's own. Doctor said it was good it did as if he drained it, it could refill. This way, there wasn't really a chance it could come back.

Pain is still here in both knees. (behind the knees). How long did it take for the bakers cyst to erupt,a nd how did you find out that that's what it was. I put myself back on Prednisone for , just started and will be on a pack of 3 weeks , starting at 15 mg. maybe I should have started stronger, but it takes for ever to get weaned once you're on it with stronger and longer periods of time. I was on it for a year in the beginning of my RA journey and it took for ever to get weaned. The pain is just too much and I work at Kohls as a Cashier(love my Job) and the standing does make it hurt more too.
I still walk the dogs 2 x a day with pain, so I hope the pred will help soon.
I'm waiting to have met my deductible so I can go see the Rheumy. Enbrel helped for 3 years and put me in remission ,but I think Im goin back to square one.

Yes I do..almost feels like a knot sometimes..I have it one day and the next it is gone and later it is back again...very painful when it happens...I get all kinds of pain everywhere.. i just think of it as Oooops another hit from the r.a...wonder what is next... but that is just me... I have been told I have a high tolerance for pain...
Example...I had 4 molars 2 on each side on top of mouth waiting to be pulled....I had such continuous pain that I was ready to bang head against the wall..called both docs and they both refered me back to the other...no pain meds...finally had the first 2 pulled 9 days later... never again....I will hunt them both down for those meds...they were both "schocked" that I did not have meds... i could go on but it gives you an idea....yeh r.a. is brutal sometimes..hope you have a better day today
