Teuness
Hi,
I'm Teuness, im a 21 year old full time college student. I joined this support group because as of today i have what my doctor calls Seronegative Rheumatoid Arthritis. I initially saw her as my pcp felt i might have had lupus, however looking more at my overall symptoms she felt that it was more inline with RA. So she held off starting treatment at the time as she wanted me to get a slew of blood work and xrays done. I went back and my ACE levels were high and she felt that it would be best if i saw a Pulmonary Specialist, which i see in Jan. At that appointment she put me on Methotrexate Oral, Folic Acid, and Mobic. I was on a taper of prednisone but she said she did not want me on long term steroids, which im fine with.
Fast forward to today, we discussed how things are going..I honestly didnt realise how bad things were until i started noticing i felt slightly better...as long as i wasnt near my dose of Methotrexate. which makes me feel horrible for 3 days. So she said my blood work is coming down, my liver is .1 higher than it should be but she said she will moniter it closely as i get my blood checked every 4 weeks. She is moving me to an injectable form of methotrexate and is adding on a new type of folic acid which i take 6 hours after the shot...

Try taking your methotrexate Fri night, that is one way to handle the fatigue. I am so sorry you had to find this forum, but also glad. You are welcomed here with open arms. We all know what you are dealing with, and while it seems overwhelming, you will get a handle on it, I swear. And don't worry about ranting and raving we are all used to that, and all I can say is this forum has saved my sanity on more than one occasion. Again, let me welcome you and wish you only the best. Trish

Hi and welcome. So sorry you are dealing with this disease at such a young age. I have had RA and it has progressed rather quickly for the past 10 years. I have been on so many medications I make my own head swim. Hopefully you will find the correct combo to make you feel better and be able to have a normal life. It is tough because on the other hand you are just starting a new life, nursing school and all. I wish you much luck and all the best in becoming and nurse. That is a tough task in and of itself, being a nurse myself. But becoming a nurse with some challenges up ahead with health issues will be challenging, but you can do it. It sounds like you have the strength , drive, and durability so go for it. You can do it. My prayers and everything else is with you 100%. Again welcome to the DS group. Sometimes your strength will come right from here and the good folks in this group.

Hello and welcome. It stinks when meds reaction to us usually makes us feel worse than the illiness, but unfortantly the meds usually help in their own mean way.
