Kimberley, do you have sjogrens??? With Sjogrens you could have dry eyes. It does seem that a lot folks with RA do have Sjogrens. When you called the dr about appointment did you tell them how your eyes are... I know it takes time to see drs .... I called last week to get into see my eye dr and I don't get in to him until this Friday... I too have been having a heck of a time with my eyes lately...but I do have sjogrens. I use Genteal to help the dryness... it is over the counter medicine...but since you are already putting drops in I would call to see if it would be ok to do... it sure does help with the dryness and it might help a lot until you can see your eye doctor... Ask what they might suggest... Dry eyes will cause blurry eyes too. Dry eyes causes your eyes to water which sounds so strange. Crust is another symptom of dry eyes. They sometimes feel gritty too... My eyes don't get red that much just once in awhile.... Could the eye problems be a side affect to the infusions you are getting??? have you talked to dr that is ordering the infusions.. he might know if that might be a side affect... Prednisone affects my eyes too...so you have a lot of different things that could possibly be causing the eye problems... It is really hard to say what it might be until you talk to your doctors.... Hope you get some relief soon.

I have had a plethora of eye problems. My ophthalmologist told me to use lubricating eye drops at least 4 times a day and then every night and every morning hot compresses an a little massage from outer corner to inner corner. This procedure is suppose to loosen up the oil glands that are in the lash line. You also might ask about blepharoplasty, something about dry tear ducts. All I can say is don't mess around with your eyes; I'm down to 1 1/2 eyes and it's a pain in the posterior! Trish

I, too, have very dry eyes. I saw my eye doctor yesterday, and after testing,was prescribed Restasiss (sp?) I've been having difficulty in the sun, eyes feel gritty, or they get filmy and I can't read, and things get blurry. I would wake up with my eyes stuck shut. I tried over the counter tears numerous times a day,a gel, and an ointment for night time. The last, although it felt kind of yucky, was the most effective.

This is something that does go along with RA, and there are other eye ailments that can become more serious that can occur, also. My daughter had red bumps on the white of her eye, went to her eye doctor and was told that he only sees this in his RA patients. She told him that she didn't have RA, and his response was that he could almost guarantee that she would someday develop it. I hope he is wrong, needless to say. Anyway, after treatment it went away.

I wouldn't delay, when it could effect my vision. I think if you google RA and eyes, you will find info' that may help you decide what to do.

Retirednow1, they say that your eye Dr can tell you a lot about your health sometimes before another type of dr can.... they say an eye can tell you if you are diabetic early... but I sure hope your daughter don't or won't get RA.
