Although my son will be seeing a rheumatologist for his very painful knee that the other doctors couldn't help him with - I have a question:

We're not sure what he has yet. I know he must have some kind of audio immune deficiency but no answers, yet. More blood work will give us a better idea.

Question: Does the pain radiate or move within the same area with RA? My son's knee was very painful in one part - went away and then moved to another area. Has anyone experienced this?

i have really bad knees ever since i was about 9yrs old the older i got the more sports i played the worse my knees got. my rhemy dont think its ra in my knees but my ortho doc do. i have no cartliage left and tendons have been torn so i have pain one minute in the front sometimes on the sides and it gives out. ra is usually effects both sides of the body usually. but hopefully when you get your sons test results will help. my son plays football hes 17 now but about 3 yrs ago he complain of knee pain which he use to have to when he was about 8 which was diaganosis same as mine as osgood slatter now hes older that found a tumor along the bone which they keep telling me it will go away but if he gets hit in the leg the wrong way it will break it scaresssssss me to death that he plays football but 17yr old think that they are untouchable lol. hes the quarterback so hopefully his frontline can protect him. but keep us posted on your son and does he have other symptoms that go along with ra?

His toes get cold. My aunt had it. His sed rate is high. The other symptoms he has sound like it could fall into the lupus category - headaches (not as often and not nearly as bad as they used to be), canker sores - really bad, depression (had it) -ear pain or plugged ears.....

I get knee pain with my RA, and I get it in only one knee. The pain does radiate, as all pain does, and there are times when I swear cutting it off will hurt less. Normally for me, it starts in my knee and works it's way to my ankle and toes. Another thing to remember with RA is it can cause so many symptoms, depending on the form of RA. Mine for example will cause headaches. I have Rheumatiod Vasculitis which causes my blood vessels to swell. When the small vessels in my head swell, it causes sharp peircing headaches. RA can also effect tendions, ligiments and muscle.

One of the hardest things in the world is waiting on test results. Especially if you're as impatient as I am. I hope you find a reason soon for everything he's going through and that a doctor can help him find some relief.

He used to get bad piercing headaches too that caused us to take him to a neurologist.

Yes - the waiting is frustrating but at the same time - I don't want to know.........
