Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
I feel it a little, my hand, back and shoulder. But weather does not effect me as much as emotions. If something is making me stressful, I hurt all over.
You say nausea and headache, could that be from the meds? Or sinuses? I have a bit of sinus problems from the cedar or something right now.
Your right about this disease, it's a roller coaster. You know I'm starting to think what I'm eating is also effecting me. I notice if I eat to much sugar, the next day my stiffness is worse.
My gp has me on two fish oils a day for inflammation. I, too, notice when I eat a lot of sugar I have more aches and pains. However, weather affects me more-the rain, high humidity.
Here in NC our summers are so humid. I have more of a rough time in summer. But this winter, it has been very warm and now it's raining, raining! My knees feel like they have water bags above them. Being on prednisone doesn't help. I just absorb all the moisture around me.
You go ahead and tell it like it is. This disease can demand the absolute best from us and that's really exhausting. We all need to express it. It's part of the healing.
I would really recommend ginger for the nausea. Do you have ginger beer there? Or you can just simmer fresh ginger for 10 minutes and drink it it as a hot or cold drink. It really does help so much and is also a great anti-inflammatory.
Be well dear lady.

It started raining here this afternoon. I knew it was going to at 3am.
The elderberry extract/syrup that is available at most drug stores is called Sambucol. I should probably keep some on hand, now that I am starting MTX.
I don't even care if I jinx it . . . . the fact that I haven't had a cold in over a year, while being in college AND having a 10 year old tells me that my immune system has been on high alert for far too long. Not that I want a cold, but to me, that is a big indicator that I am not properly managed.
Ginger is great for nausea. I snagged some ginger/honey/darkbrown sugar packets at the Asian market a feww weeks ago. Heavenly in a cup of tea.
Hope you feel better soon!
I think that the humidity and fungus does a number on our sinuses, plus lots of plants sprouting and pollinating after a week of hot weather!
On the nausea and inflammation, try grating fresh ginger into water and adding lemon, serve over ice.... sip throughout the day.
