thanks for posting this... I have never read this before. I should post it on my FB, but then why bother those that really want to know about RA would have read something on line about it to understand.... I just have some friends that are not that interested in finding out about RA, but then whine to me when I don't go into details of what is going on.

Thanks for posting. I had not read this before either. Number 11 is so incredibly true it's almost frightening. I was a mathematics teacher who used to go backpacking in the Rockies and was active in sports.

After permanently disability (and some earlier) those things are no longer possible. My current activities includes exercise class for arthritis and playing bridge. It's a whole new life style.

I do, however, do some things for the Wisconsin Mathematics Council and for the Wisconsin Mathematics Education Foundation. I still need my math friends.

when you do give a little info to them they start in without educating themselves at all. Not worth discussing it for me.

Thanks for posting this. I'll share it with mom. Even though her hands were twisted after just four years of RA, she continued to work 60 hours per week at the florist she owns until breast cancer fifteen years later. That's when she finally went on ssd. Beat the odds and still makes bead bracelets she sells at dance recitals. This article made me realize how amazing she is.....and how lucky I have been with RA

I just had to quit my job as a cabinet finisher and now at age 55 I have to find work as something I don't even know yet, in which I have no experience at. My identity has been ruined but I am reinventing myself. Such as I have stopped woodcarving and started painting pictures a few years ago. I just quit my job a week ago and am sitting here all teary eyed reading all this. My rheumy doc don't really believe that I hurt this bad(its pretty bad a lot) neither did my boss when I quit. Now with the job loss I am losing my med insurance. I was worn down to the point of exhaustion for over two years now. With frequent bed ridden day and sleepless nights. God help us is what my wife and I say all the time.
