Rhabdomyolysis Support Group

Rhabdomyolysis is the breakdown of skeletal muscle due to injury. The result of this process is renal failure due to accumulation of muscle breakdown products in the bloodstream, which are injurous to the kidney. Treatment is with intravenous fluids, and dialysis if necessary. The main therapeutic measure is hyperhydration (by administering intravenous fluids), and if necessary the use of diuretics (to prevent fluid overload).

I am just providing some answers on recovery. I had it in late April 2017 from taking Simvastatin. I took this medication and it interacted with Amlodipine for bloodpressure, worst Summer Ever! Two weeks in isolation room at Methodist West Hospital and now it's October and I am still struggling with the weakness and pain. They put me on a Vegan diet and high carbs. Rhabdos all my life finally have solution

I am a 32 year old female from austria and I had my first Rhabdo when I was about 5. Until April 2017, I always thought my Rhabdos were normal muscle pain because I was not fit enough. I never understood why people who seemed to do much less sport than me are all much more durable. On the occasions that my pee turned dark I thought it was because I was dehydtrated. This April after a normal...

    Recovering from Rhabdo

Hi all.  First of all I am so glad I have found this group.  The main thing I keep reading is how long does it take to recover from Rhabdo.  I was struck by this horrid condition back in June 2013.  I was at work and all of a sudden I had this incredible pain in my neck & lower back.  It only lasted about 5 minutes so after putting a heat pack on I went back to work.  I wasnt feeling the...

    Rhabdo Recovery

I was admitted into ICU on 08/04/15 with cpk levels greater than 20,000. This is my first round of Rhabdo, and the cause is still unkown. I am 20 years old, 21 next month. Three days into being admitted, I had a muscle biospy done. Testing like crazy. I'm back home, levels down to the normal range, and I am seeing multiple specialists to figure this out. I'm writing today to hopefully get in...

26 Years and Still Having Issues

I had a severe case of Rhabdomyolosis 26 years ago, during my military training, that was the result of abuse by a drill sergeant (hundreds of pushups in a very short time, and being forced to go through the motions well past muscle exhaustion). It wasn't diagnosed properly, and I received Motrin and Ben-Gay as my only treatment. The others who were there were medically discharged, but I...

Hello everyone. Back in 2014 I had my first encounter with Rhabdomyolysis my junior year in highschool. The years prior, I had been working out, but I took some time off. I never used supplements or anything of the sort. I returned to working out about 6 months later, and it was a pretty intense workout our coach has given us. After the workout I had thrown up a few times, and I didn't know what...
  • I just got out of the hospital a couple of weeks ago and while I was there, I made a mental note to come back here and post my story. It was so beneficial for me to read other people's stories, the good and the bad, while I was going through it. So here I am.Like many others, I got rhabdo from taking my first spin class. I'm not out of shape by any means, but I also hadn't been working out at...

Re-occurring Rhabdo and Recovery - Please Help

Hello everyone..I got rhabdo 4/2014 after a 45 minute spin class trial at a new gym. I was 23 at the time, I had done Crossfit and other intense exercises previously with no problems. After the spin class I felt fine and went back the next day to take a Pilates class. The following day, my quads became stiff and sore. I went back to the gym and went in the sauna, and rolled out on foam rollers,...
