Discussion, question-and-answer, general social support, and journal processing for progress-oriented rape survivors. No crisis, no damaging or triggering conflicts--this is for individuals who want to contribute to collective, cooperative action toward the goal of making actual PROGRESS through rape trauma. I saw this topic at Pandora's Aquarium and thought it would fit well here as well. The point is to list how has been supportive of you and your healing and how they've helped you.
I'll start with a few who helped me find my footing on the healing road.:
My friend Heidi, who cried silently and supported me while I dealt with a mixture of rage and shock as I finally decided to process the emotions from a rape nearly 20 years old. While I couldn't see her face through the cell phone, I could tell her cheeks were covered in tears.
My friend Scottie - she chatted with me by IM for hours and helped me vent and process.
TS - for letting me know that male survivors do not owe anyone their silence, regardless of how inconvenient our stories may seem to those who wish to portray rape as attacker = male and victim = female. For some of us, the roles are actually reversed.
My blogger friend Wendy M. who first told my story for me and empowered me to speak out.
And countless other survivors at Pandora's Aquarium, Daily Strength, After Silence and elsewhere.

the DS and RAR group have helped because you dont feel so alone in this and usually someone is on to talk to if need it. and the support group I go to once a week because we are all going thru this crap and they help you with ways that helped them and they validate what you are going through so you dont feel so crazy. Plus it is nice to see people face to face because all I am around all day are children and my child as I work with children as I want to help see the signs early so I can help get them out of that situation like I wished someone was there for me.
