a phoenix?

I?e got a phoenix planned for my next tattoo... Some of the phoenix tattoos I've seen have been awful though.

The 3rd, 4th, 7th, and last pictures are my favorite.

For me, I like the 4th the very best. For a guy, I think I like 7th the best.

Hmmm ................. now I'm sure everyone's expecting me to say phoenix as well lol!
But in a funny sort of way, I was thinking more of an animal coming out of hibernation - like a bear, perhaps?

I'm thinking of a second tattoo also. I got a tattoo within days of the rape. Had some more added to it maybe a month or so later. Then, years went by. I gained weight. Had kids. Gained and lost weight. The tattoo looked kinda misshapen. Plus, I was tired of this symbol of my rape. So I had it covered with a warrior woman.

Now I'm thinking that maybe, at some point --- and I'll know it when it arrives --- I'll have another tattoo, one that is also very meaningful to me. I just haven't decided what it will be.

A locust! (subsisting underground for years, before emerging free). Okay, it's a cool idea, but not a cool image.

Hahaha. When I was in my teens and always starving, some of my relatives said that having me visit was like having a swarm of locusts descend on them. I'm thinking the locust tattoo might be kinda cool.

What about a Hopi maze with a man emerging victorious from it? This is some artwork: http://www.earthart.org/happenings/kiva/labyrinths.html but it can be done much more clearly for a tat. We've heard that when the man's arms are down, he is still 'in the labyrinth'--still struggling; but when his arms are up, he has conquered the labyrinth.

What about a centaur? In the book if you meet Buddha in the road kill him by Sheldon Kopp he talks about mans struggle with choosing between being the horse or the rider, either running aimlessly (the horse) or being in control (the rider) His view was those that were more at peace with the world and themself were those that chose neither but chose to be the Centaur half man half horse working in unison.

I'd choose the centaur if it were me.

Ok, I've got mine all planned out when I feel it's right. Since I'm gonna be a nurse, I'm getting a caduceus with beautiful angel wings. Instead of the two snakes (ewwww) climbing up and around the staff, I'm going to have an awesome lotus flower (lotus flowers grow out of muck, that my survivor symbol) at the base with the vines climbing up in place of the snakes. I get to incorporate my career and I get the lotus flower as a rememberance of my survival status. PLUS, if people ask me about it, it's easy to explain if I don't want to get into it. Pretty awesome if I say so myself..... Devin
