I can empathise with the crashing feeling afterwards as I sit here putting together my presentation on Rape. There is always something that comes up that I haven't identified that sets me off in to doubt and also because I am so passionate about the information I am putting across pile on the pressure and slip in to my old perfectionist ways.
We will be here for you monday, take care of yourself good luck and bestwishes Deb.
Proud!
Following breakfast, we went on to planning and rehearsing the day's program for a few hours. That was actually enjoyable and fun. Being around several teenage girls all day long did make me feel a bit old at first! :)
A survey was given to the attendees as they arrived. Their answers to some of the questions about rape and violence myths were used to tweak our presentations in order to address prevailing beliefs.
In the end, the day went quite well and I think that all of the attendees left more informed than they arrived.
I went to dinner with the founder and one of the attendees who is a key player at another rape survivors organization. I've known them both online for several months. It was nice to see them both in person.
Thank you to everyone who sent me support and good vibes. I was a little triggered and anxious after getting to the airport, but I calmed down quickly enough. After arriving at the airport, my flight was cancelled due to lightning. As my wife's brother lives in Manhattan, I called him and crashed at their apartment until my new flight the next day. It was good to see my my brother-in-law, sis-in-law and nephew for a surprise visit. Sister-in-law fed me as soon as I came in the door. As we are both married into the family (my wife is her husband's sister), we get along quite well as the outlaw inlaws.
All in all, it was a good trip.
