Given the growing enthusiasm for a second retreat, I'm exploring the October option. Plus, that will provide a second chance for anyone who *might* not be able to make May work, so there's no great disappointment about losing your 2012 opportunity entirely. The October one would be a simpler, less costly option (because we'd not have Bill there), but we WOULD have other activities in place. The rental and insurance for the grounds is increasing slightly, so the retreat cost will probably be about $25 more, but keep in mind that when Megan was looking at other similar retreats during her first year she discovered they were, like, $2000 for a weekend! Not kidding! (And they didn't include meals!)
Also, I'm going to start Thursday closer to lunch than late afternoon. It just seems more fair if people are paying for the early day that they get to have more time at the grounds.
I would love an October time as well....that way, if one did not work then there would be a second option.
this year is going to be so much better with everyone's full support and an awareness of the flight system. I can just get excited!
Matt...if we don't want to partake in the extra early activities on Thursday can we opt out. There are several hours of people filtering in so that woud be cool instead of a particular start time. I personally like having Thursday as a retreat 'free day'....retreat-ish but fly by the seat of your pants kind of day . I don't care if I pay for it :) Lest you forget I've been to one of those 'other' more expensive, more "organized" retreats...that didn't work out so well.
