Any last-minute Letters To Survivors...

...need to be in during the coming week. I'm doing a massive graphic design layout project, and I need to know the limit of what I'm working with. A few of you had asked if it was too late to contribute, and it's not--but please send them quickly!

My preference is for hand-written ink on plain paper. They do not have to be "finished" pages--cross-outs, scribbles, doodles, etc. are all fine! (They give them a human warmth). And of course, you obviously have to be agreeable to letting me use your letters in print--duh! I will use whatever name you sign to your letter.

Mine is written by a Type A...sorry I didn't include any of the human warmth as indicated by scratch outs...but, it is an old habit to toss and re-start, no matter how often, until I get it as close to perfect as I can get....except, of course, here...where every other word is messed up.

I have done it!! I now have tears streaming down my face and I sobbed all the way through it (probably in a good way!). i guess it has made me realise just how far I have come. This time last year I could not even bear that I was/ am a 'survivor'. and now...i can post on here and blimey, i even got on a plane and came on a retreat in a far off country with a bunch of 'brash' (not really!!) Americans..it is just amazing. I am amazed at myself.
So, i will email it to you when I get back from work later, but where do we post it? To the same address as the retreat info? I will send it airmail tomorrow (hedwig is in the owlry!!!) so hopefully it won't take too long to get to you.

Yeah, it started out as a journal exercise, didn't it? Supposed to be for the writer. Then the readers of RAR love them so much in that book, sparked the idea to do a book totally of letters.

It's looking really good. The problem is that the graphics are so intensive, it exceeds my poor laptop's processing capabilities to convert the layout to a .pdf! I'll either have to transfer it home to work on the Mac, or...buy a Macbook Pro to handle the job. (Notice how I'm angling for the Macbook Pro to be deductible as a legitimate business expense!)

The problem is that I want the 17" with 4gb RAM and an Intel 2.8 processor. I'm not sure I've been THAT good.

Oh no there is no question about it, you have absolutely been. Plus it's a tax write-off! You'd almost be a fool to NOT get one at this point. Plus, it's so you can do what you need to do for the graphics for your book. It's quite necessary. Listen, I can (and will) rationalize just about anything. Get back to me if you need some more justification... hahah!

I got desk top mac pros for my designers. They came 19 inches and pimped out for 1700. (still spendy, but our g4 towers were 4000.) You maybe able to access more discounts from mac if you have connections to someone with an education discount. Maybe as a non-profit they would do it too. The software is the best deal. I can order you you CS4 for I think, 150 probably less now, and CS5 I think for around 300.

I have a 24" iMac here at home...it's at work that I need the Macbook so I can work on graphics on my down time (and there IS down time).
