Tell Amazon.com to stop selling rape porn!
The problem: a person searching for the word "rape" on Amazon.com in the "Books" category is presented with enormous amounts of offensive content. A survivor searching for self-help, inspiration, or guidance literature has to wade through pro-rape pornography. In fact, the FIRST search result on the FIRST page of products is a rape-porn book, even though it has hardly sold a copy and its sale rank is among the lowest of all! so why is Amazon listing it at the top?
The issue: a survivor might not know the name of a specific book, and could just be browsing the literature category, "rape," in hopes of finding a book to buy. Instead, she/he is confronted with offensive material. Amazon has not banned these types of item from its book sales, even though amazon has a precedent of banning similar pro-rape items from its marketplace (example: a t-shirt with a pro-rape joke slogan was banned). Amazon's terms of service do not specify that rape is a prohibited topic, obviously, but it reserves the right of Amazon to remove items it deems objectionable.
The action: write and submit critical 1-star reviews for pro-rape products (I'm targeting books, but there are pro-rape DVD's on Amazon, too). In a succinct and appropriate manner, identify the item as an "offensive pro-rape product." Refrain from lengthy sermons or personal disclosure, and instead diminish these products' positions in search results with these reviews.
Additional action: contact Amazon directly with a complaint.
The risk: this tactic asks the activist to willingly encounter products types that will be offensive and triggering. While I believe there is therapeutic and healing value in confronting those triggers in the context of doing battle against them--striking blows against such products--this asks us to knowingly identify such products in the first place. In the "Books" category, this is not as difficult because most of the items are published by "Olympia Press," an "erotica" merchant, and are printed in plain covers (usually red or blue with the title printed on them, and nothing else). DVD's, however, have upsetting cover imagery.
Folks, I'm asking for your help. Please consider making your voices heard on this issue so that rape is not given prominence as an entertainment media.
I would be willing to post direct links to products, if asked, but using the "search" method is preferable because it lets you identify which objectionable products still remain foremost among the results.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Oh and google is another massive offender of that. I was searching for a film that was about rape today..so foolishly searched with words that included group rape..and even with my filter on moderate I got a ton of links to 'real group rapes' and rape porn sites....I mean the whole first page!! ugh :(
Fortunately I found the dvd i wanted fairly easily on amazon search page..but i faintly browsed that search page..i knew the cover i wanted just not name of film.
Iwonder if UK amazon is as bad?
1) Censorship is imposed by a government, not by a private merchant. For a merchant to decide that certain products are not appropriate for its venue is not censorship; in fact, Amazon's terms of service even spells out its right to make judgments about product content!
2) Amazon has a precedent of removing other pro-rape products. Amazon banned the "RapeLay" video game, and removed T-shirts that said "I'm not pro-life, I'm pro-rape" on them. So Amazon cannot authentically play the "censorship" card to defend these products.

I thought was in relatively good place..and then seeing people commend such books and see it tagged as an 'erotic sex story'...had to pull away before i can comment on it
(really wishing could edit posts and not post hundreds of times when remember something! =D )
Also, you can add your own tags for the product. Be creative! Add tags like "male impotence, male overcompensation, flatulence, earwax, cowardice"...you know, tags that will make it LESS apparent in searches.

This is to inform shoppers/browsers about the foul product content and how it is offensively PRO-rape. Anyone looking for a book of support, or reading material of informative value, is bombarded with negative meassages of Pro-rape material. For many people who only know a "tag" or a "keyword" such as 'rape' in the title of many self-help books--potential consumers are mislead into thinking that this dispicable kind of garbage has any real use or value.
If someone entered the search term, "SUICIDE," looking for a book about coping after the suicide of a loved one, and the first book that popped up was a manual on how to commit suicide or a book glorifying and encouraging you to do it...it would likely be deemed as "OBJECTIONABLE," by AMAZON, and therefore, removed, or at the very least moved to the bottom of the list of results.
Rape-Pornography should be the LASR thing that pops up on the search of "rape," if ever, and is about as objectionable as it gets. Buyers and Searchers BEWARE!!!

It's pretty sad the first thing that came up was a dvd called "breaking her will" that not prorape material. This is material should be considered a civil rights violation for even existing...that should be deemed illegal.

Business's have social responsibility and people look at that if they won't act to eliminate such outrageaously prorape things they are complicit.
