I also think that rape victims should be protect with VPOs, and not restraining orders. There IS a difference.
I think that rape trauma counseling should be a certified specialty, and not simply an aspect of generalist practice that any clinician can attempt to treat.
I think evidence-based practice with best results for treatment of rape trauma substantiates a holistic approach that should be accepted as a preferred form of treatment, in which a more life-encompassing collaboration is practiced, as opposed to a simplistic hour-per-week office-based talking approach. Eating disorders are commonly treated within a therapist-client relationship that is very diverse and comprehensive, and not bare-minimum "one hour appointment"-type therapy, and I think sexual assault simply requires this type of comprehensive collaboration just as much. Clearly, we're not even close to accepting this premise in therapy yet.
