Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) Support Group

Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.

There is hope if this cancer is caught early. I had double kidney cancer.
Huge tumor on both kidneys, what to do. The doctors removed my right kidney and adrena glad entirely and used RF to kill the tumor on my left kidney. That was almost 5yrs ago.
I didn't have to have any additional treatment, no chemo or any thing else.
I have a C/T scan every 4 months to make sure nothing is coming back and so far Nothing has changed.
So there is hope. and I thank the Big Guy upstairs every day.

I too am a double kidney cancer survivor! Right kidney removed in 2006 and April 2010 cyroablation on Left kidney. No treatments required at this time. Scan in August will tell us more (hopefully).
There is hope out there and you must stay positive! Enjoy everyday to its fullest and give Thanks to God.

WOW - thank you for posting that! Mine was a small tumor on right kidney and with my surgery only half removed. It's 3rd year for me and I still thank God for every day I get. Yuppers - truly there is always HOPE!

Hi.. You gave me hope. My mother got diagnosed yesterday with renal cell carcinoma there is a 2 inch tumor on left kideny. Her surgery is set for 7/12 they will be removing her left kideny.. we are all scarred but through the faith of God we will get there. If there is anything you can share with after surgery that would be great. How did you prepare yourself for this. So glad to hear your health is doing great. God bless you :) Jesennea

Hello to all again,
In answer to a few responses I eat what I eat, limit my potassium by eating no more than one banana a week and I also take water pillis daily because I had increased swelling in my lower legs and feet.My blood work is checked before I have my C/T scan and so far has been well withing expected norms.
The only advice I would offer is be extremly carefull after surgery to ward off infection of the surgical site.
Other than that Go with God and enjoy your life.

PS I was disapointed I didn't lose a lot of weight, I had joked with the doctor that I hoped the kidney would weight 25-30 lbs. It didn't come close.
