I'm new to this group.
In November of 2013, I felt a lump on my left side just below the rib cage.
My doctor sent me in for a CT scan. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. the tech had just finished the scan and I was getting changed back into my clothes when the radiologist knocked on the door to the room. he came in and told me that there was a large tumor found on my left kidney and that they would like to admit me to the hospital and have me meet with a surgical urologist that night.
At this point I was scared out of my mind.
I was indeed admitted to the hospital and met with the surgeon and a day and a half later I had a left radical nephrectomy to remove the tumor, kidney and the uritor.
After a week or so after the surgery I was back at home and had received a phone call from the urologist with pathology results stating that this was a rare form of renal cell carcinoma called chromophobe.
He assured me that he and his team believed that they were able to remove all of the cancer during surgery and that i would not need to have any further treatment.
It has now been 4 1/2 years later. I just had a routine CT scan and had an area on the lymph node come back as looking highly suspicious.
I was sent in for a PET scan and it was confirmed that there is cancer on the lymph node as well as there being multiple cancerous nodules in the left upper kidney bed where the surgery was done.
We have ned with a medical oncologist and have had further blood word and testing done and will be meeting with a surgical oncologist in the next week or two to determine if surgery is an option again or not.
my family and I are trying to stay positive. We have a huge support system and have been praying about what the right direction is for my treatment.
Sorry that this was kind of a lengthy post, but I hope that we can help to lift eachother up and support eachother through each of our trials.
Blessings to all,
Tracie
