Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) Support Group

Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.

My husband will be undergoing surgery to insert pins in his femur to strengthen and support the bone as it is the site of a metastatic tumor from kidney cancer. All of this seems to be going too fast. Any advice?

Believe me, I understand what you are going through. It does go fast sometimes. The best thing I can tell you is to trust in God. God is holding you and your husband in his hand right now. Trust in him and let him handle things. Let your emotions out. Don't keep them in. I find when I am struggleing the most with my husband's cancer to go to God in prayer and ask for strength. I have to say that I do that a lot. There are times almost daily that I feel like I'm drowning. For us it has only been sixteen days since we found out he had a mass at all and since then we found out how much it has spread.
Please trust in God, and pray. I will be thinking and praying for you! Love, Beca

WELCOME to the DS site and family! This is a wonderful group of loving, caring people. We all know what you are going through.

Beca is so right about trusting in God. This cancer is totally out of our control, but God is with us every step of the way! He is the ultimate physician and continues to work miracles daily.

As your husband's caretaker (I am the same for my husband), you MUST take care of yourself. If you don't...there is no way you can be there for your husband. I've found it invaluable to share with others in the DS family. Also, I try to do something "just for me" at least once a week. It may only be walking around a store or reading a book....but it's "be good to me time". You'll be amazed at how something so small will refresh you.

Your husband is very fortunate to have you. Hang in there, and never hesitate to contact me. I'm always here for you!

Continuing to fight Cancer for the past 8 years, Three Major Surgery second major chemo and still here. I gave the problem to God, and do with my Doctor and myself what i have too.
Strength in prayer from all of us will help you and Mr. D. I thank God each day for my wife and let her know. Praise God. Amen
