Hi Sweetie!

When my husband had Gamma Knife this past summer, he experience debilitating fatigue. When I called the neurosurgeon, he said that is a common side effect of any radiation. I worried about him sleeping around the clock. It's now been six months since the tx, and he's starting to be more alert and active. Hang in there! Your hubby's body is going through alot of trauma. Is he on steroids? That seems to hype them up some.

I don't know if this will help but my wife makes me a smoothie every morning with 8 oz POM juice a cup of blueberries a banana and 2 scoops of visalis. visalis is a powdered vitamin and protien and it seems to help me but i haven't had the gamma knife.

He is on steroids but is tapering down only taking one a day now. He started Votrient today so hopefully he'll do we'll with that. Kaye

I have been on Votrient for a year and a half. I had to have two units of blood, so still have blood loss, I still think its in the kidney, but have had a shrinkage in this time of about 70%, at least that is what they told me. I will have to have some more tests to make sure the blood is not from another place, but nothing showed in the CTs I had a week ago. So don't think any metastizing anywhere. I have the one kidney, other was taken in 1997, so doing all I can to preserve and keep this on viable. Good luck on Votrient, I haven't had too many bad side effects, some tiring, and diarreha, but not bad for the good it is doing.

Hello, I think it is normal for all radiation to cause fatigue. Good luck to you and I am here for you if you ever want to talk. My husband is a fourteen year survivor of renal cell carcinoma. He has been through a lot but is having a good quality of life.

Hi, well my husbands fatigue has improved a little but he well be starting radiation next week on his rib....so the fatigue will be back. He is actually doing better and is starting to do a few things around the house. Two weeks ago we went and saw the Gamma knife group and after the brain MRI it showed the mets shrinking and one small one disappeared will be gowing back in 8 weeks for another checkup. We did spend the day at the ER last Friday because Don was so nauseated he couldn't eat or drink and after being hydrated and given IV meds to help the nausea things are much better. I have become a wife that nags to make sure he is drinking and eating, well if that's what it takes I'll watch him like a hawk. Kaye

I have been on Votrient since August of 2012 and so far it has prevented any new mets and has possibly caused a small decrease in my largest lung nodule! the side effects are no party but so far I am still able to work daily! I wish you and your husband the best!
