Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) Support Group
Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.
I went to see surgeon for first time yesterday was told by him that he wants to wait 3 more months and then send me for another MRI he said he is not 100% convinced that its a cancerous tumor but does not want to biopsy it and disturb it. I was originally told by urologist that I have a 2cm cyst that has turned cancerous which is why he sent me to surgeon.
Also the first two ct scans I had came back that it was just a cyst but the most recent ct scan suggested possible rcc and mri results came back with same diagnoses possible rcc like 85% possible and now surgeon wants to wait???

So happy you posted how the appt went. I had my first ct scan 12 plus months ago. Then an ultrasound and lastly an MRI. They seem to want to make sure and check and recheck. I know it's frustrating.
Prior to my surgery the radiologist at Rochester thought it may just be a blood filled cyst. Then I had the MRI, which showed it was solid and had grown.
Try to be patient, which is difficult. Maybe it will be wonderful news in the end. I sure have second thought about my ablation procedure and was told by my urologist here that radio frequency isn't as successful as cryo. I think being diabetic was also a consideration. So many horror stories and different opinions.....it's difficult to know what to do.
I pray you find the strength you need to get through this and have a good outcome.

I did go for a second opinion and agree with them, just not thinking too clearly these days.

Always get a second opinion, I always recommend the MAYO if possible. I would be ok with the biopsy as long as they can get it done soon, that way they can grade it.
