We both love to laugh so we go to stand up comedians shows.
I have to think of the things I would like to do but cannot because of the children. This will be easier.
So I would like us to go to the museums.
I would love us to go visit cities that are close enough (and there are many) to go for a weekend or half the weekend and do sightseeing tours.
Kayaking together was very cool.
I would like to figure out how to do geocaching and do it with my family.
I guess we also need to recycle.
Thanks for your ideas. A couple really stuck out to me and I'm excited to share them with the huz.
And yeah. I needed to step away from other places. I am being MINDFUL of not reacting to "baiting" as was directed to me by the counselor we're seeing with our 16 y/o son. It doesn't come naturally to me, but I'm practicing!
We enjoy grocery shopping together. weird huh
We also enjoy visiting nearby cities but don't do that very often.
Not much else, really, we just spend time together and do things together. I think we should spice things up with a few hot dates and get a little more creative.
We're saving up for a yoga retreat, all day classes available with instructors who bring their varying approaches (one who teaches Tantra), healthy meals, and lots of time for meditation and just spending quiet time connecting with our Selves and each other. I'm hoping that nurturing our spirit will help us to connect on a deeper lever and build intimacy in a way we haven't really had before.
I got a hotel room for the night with jacuzzi. Checked in early and set it all up with kink and romance. Had the music, the dinner and drinks ready for his arrival.
I teased him during the day letting him know I had plans for his bday. Sent the kids to grandpas and invited hubby to room I answered in my lingerie and had the tub filled. We ate and then enjoyed the many little surprises I had set up for the night.
That was by far the best date either of us had ever planned. He's not a big planner. He loved it
Unfortunately I couldn't do it, at least not yet. Too much of a trigger, especially if it was me working on it to make it happen. This is something he would have to arrange for, though objective technical difficulty (what to do with the children) might make that impossible anyway :-(. Sigh.
It does sound absolutely wonderful though. Good for you.
I don't think my husband and I would enjoy "hot" dates (purely designed around sex). TOO MUCH PRESSURE!! :) Get away weekends may include steamy times, but there's other stuff, too. (hotel with a jacuzzi is our "go to" as well.)
I LOVE the idea of a yoga retreat, but huz would definitely NOT go for that. And I'm not fit enough for it at this time. Actually, I really loved ALL the physical fitness type ideas. We talk about joining a gym together, but it just doesn't work. The closest one is 40 minutes away. It's not "on the way" to or from anything else we do. At best, I think we'd go once a week. More likely we'd go once or twice and then never go again.
There is a seasonal pool in our neighborhood. Close enough we could pretty much walk to it (if not for climbing back UP the steep hill on the way home! ugh!) but... I don't know how to swim. I'm rather terrified of water. Still an idea to swish around in our brains. Maybe I can convince him to teach me how to swim.
Allora, you can do yoga together at home with a good dvd. I might buy this one http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/om-yoga-in-a-box-for-couples-cyndi-lee/1004899874 as we're pretty new at it, too. But if you have access to a retreat they would probably welcome newbies too.
My husband and I get a lot of laughs out of playing games like Monopoly (or for something more "hot", check out the sexy board games on Amazon), but if you're looking to go out then perhaps bowling, pool, or darts. We are the types to do a lot of smack-talking, which keeps it fun even though we are competitive.
