I just recently went off of my anti depressants which I have been on for the last 8 months. This was when I found out about my H's A's. Drugs, counseling and couple counseling have all helped but I was really worried about going off the drugs but just did not want to be on them anymore. In a lot of ways I feel that I have to start over again with the healing. The drugs were helpful but ...wow...I really don't want to go backwards. Has anyone else had a similar situation and any suggestions on how to get through this new obstacle? You have all helped so much for the last 8 months.

Did you talk with your doctor, and taper the dose down? Sometimes it will help with the side effects of stopping the medication.

Yes, I did taper off....maybe a little too quickly. I am feeling better each day as far as the side affects. The problem now is that the drugs seemed to have masked the reality of the affairs ...now everything is right back in my face again.

Perhaps the meds did mask the reality. If that is true, then I don't see them as being helpful. I took Serzone back in the early '90s. It brought me back to an even place, but I felt totally flatlined. It was wonderful to get off the drug and have emotions again.

Reality doesn't change, even if we're unaware of it. Dealing with that reality is necessary.
