I was raped in 2017 , I had just graduated school , first official job and was living life. Went to a party with my friends got drunk and I'm not sure if the guys slipped something in my cup but I blacked out and woke up to one of them on me. I remember saying stop and please trying to push him off me but I blacked out again. I started doing horrible in school during college , I haven't went back since spring 2019. I've gained a lot of weight so my confidence level is down again. I just want help.
First I need to say I'm a bi man, I was violently raped back in 1992. I have to tell you, no you never get over it. But it does get easier. I go weeks, and sometimes a whole month at a time without remembering it. Then one day for what seems to be no reason, I remember it happened, but that's it just that it happened, much like a car wreck. Then there are times it all comes back, I'll be watching tv with my wife or son's and I'll just start crying hard, and they'll be "what's wrong"? Sometimes I can tell them, sometimes I can't. Yes they all know everything even my sons. They are very supportive of me in everything, I don't think I could have made it without them. It takes time for it to get better, Two years isn't enough for it to even scab over. I know it's hard, God do I know it's hard, but be gentle with yourself, don't try and force yourself into getting past it. Find someone, or even an online group like this one, or one with more traffic. I haven't been to this group in a couple of years, I just found the bookmark buried deep down in some folders so it may be very busy now, if so that's great. But bear your soul, talk to a live person (recommended) or if not online, don't just talk about it, bear your soul. Let yourself cry, but not too much, and eventually it will scab over, then it will stop hurting and start to itch. Then you'll know it's healing. Then your left with an ugly scar only you can see, you can tell others about it, and they'll know, but they won't see the scar, that's one thing we carry to ourselves, and it should be like that. If you can afford a therapist do that, that will do more good than anything else. I think that's what you need to know. Like I said I"ll try to be back and tell you the rest, I don't have a problem telling it to anybody, I've received some of the best support from straight guys. I've just got a lot going on around here in the next few days, I don't know if I'll have time or not. Your not alone, never think you are.
