I've recently discovered that perhaps what I am experiencing is not normal and is probably closely tied in with my... history. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with Vaginismus and if so, was it easy to be diagnosed? Did the doctors take you seriously? Was treatment easy and did it work?
I'm really scared to go to the doctors about it but I'm so so sure that I have it. I had never heard of it until recently but since looking at it all the pain I've been having makes sense, and it's been effecting me a lot recently and I'm finding it hard to cope on top of everything else. Please help if you can... I realise this is an uncomfortable topic and I'm really sorry if I've made anyone upset.

I haven't had vaginismus but I have helped several women with it.
Yes, it's fairly easily diagnosed and doctors generally do take it seriously. It's a pretty common consequence of sexual trauma. The treatment doesn't involve any sexual contact of any kind and can make a massive difference.
Don't worry about it being an uncomfortable topic. Doctors and therapists come across it all too frequently and it's been discussed here many times before.

"No definitive medical test exists for the diagnosis of vaginismus so it often takes a number of visits to several physicians or specialists before a medical diagnosis is obtained" and I was worried this would make it difficult to get any help for it if it's definitely what I have.
