Im new here, I'll give you my story maybe it will help someone else. I was first molested and raped by my older cousin when i was about 6 it lasted for a few years, i wasnt capable of understanding what was happening to me as she would tell me it was a game. I wouldnt tell anyone because it was only a game.. when i was about 8 i finally told my mother and siblings what was happening my mom was devastated my mom pressed charges but nothing ever happened. I struggled with years of low self esteem, when i turned 16 i had my first crush and eventually boyfriend, he was a nice guy i told him about my childhood and why i wasnt ready for sex, unfortunately for me he understood that it was a free pass. I was raped by him and his cousins got beat and i thought i was not going to survive, i was admitted to the hospital and nothing ever happened to my attackers. After many years of therapy, good and bad days I can proudly say i am a strong survivor and have even given my forgiveness to those who hurt me. However i still have challenge's in my daily life that i struggle with as do we all.
I have questions to the rest of you survivors, i have been in a committed relationship for about 8 years. My partner And i are doing great however I have a high sex drive that he recently told me he feels like it's too much pressure for him. in all honesty i though my sex drive was normal, but when i told my therapist she told me it might be linked to my rape. Has anyone ever been told this before? I really would appreciate any response! How you have dealt with it or what advice you can give me.

I was sexually assaulted as a kid. I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm. He made bad choices and now I am paying the price. Stupid PTSD!
when a child gets abused, their “normal” changes. After me being molesting and a very violent rape, I know my normal was no longer normal.
Yet I thought it was normal to act these ways, to jump at noises,to be scared around certain areas/ppl...
but everything I thought was normal, wasn’t.
You may think your sex drive is normal.. to you, it is.. you don’t know anything different... though to others, they see what they consider normal, and see a difference...
and because you value your partner’s opinion, you started asking questions.. and found out your normal isn’t “normal..
and you’re here asking what others “normals” are...
Now, I used normal because it’s the word most everyone uses, yet what is actually “normal”.. it’s a setting on a dryer, yet what are normal clothes?? Lol...
nothing is normal.
Abuse shapes our future. I know that had I never been molested ( age 5) then my violent crap towards myself wouldn’t had been there... had o not been raped so terrible ( age 13, perp was11 I think) I know I wouldn’t have the same empathy I have towards other sexual abuse/rape victims/survivors and undress a good chance i wouldn’t be here trying to help...
( sorry it’s long)
But because the abuse happened ( there is much much more to my past, yet this is long enough already). It has shaped me to be the person I am today. I care for others, I mean well, whether anyone sees it that way. It’s hard for me to figure out what’s important to say and not say ( which is why this is so terribly long... )
I should really stop, if you want to ask questions, hopefully it’s much shorter than this..
