"Letters To Survivors" has just received a Bronze Medal for the Survivor/Recovery category from the Books For a Better Tomorrow publishing awards. It's also being used by some programs as a "primary resource"--that is, the first essential resource that rape crisis centers offer to victims. Two positive accomplishments!

Wow, I wish I would have seen this when it was originally posted.
I got my copy of Resurrection After Rape... I have only been able to skim through it... I don't know if I am strong enough to actually read. I told my therapist about the book. She used got a copy to read. She hasn't had time to read it yet, but she is going to work through it with me.

Resurrection After Rape is an excellent book to work through...and to work through again. It is hard work, but rewarding. I am glad you will be doing it with your therapist. I worked the assignments through, and processed it with my therapist, and here, in the RAR group, with others who were working on it as well. I have particular affection for particular "assignments", like, the letter to the day before that we are asked to write. It is a way to find tenderness toward yourself - and forgiveness for things you really need never seek forgiveness (because you aren't guilty). That, and the thigs rape stole vs what rape couldn't steal. That is a "mirror" assignment - you can't do one without doing the other, and the things rape could not steal, when we are honest and really look closely at our present selves, we realize we aren't as "damaged" as we once believed. It is the ONLY book on rape recovery I stuck with. I have others that are valid, but this one really helped me.

Letters to Survivors is the collection of letters, which is also a journal exercise in Resurrection After Rape. It is our words, to other survivors just starting out...in the middle, ready to give up...and way down the path, wondering where the end of the road actually is. You write that journal for the specific purpose of reaching out...reaching back...and in so doing, you take huge steps forward!
