i feel the exact same way sometimes. sorry i don't have any advice or anything like that, but i am here if you want to talk! :-)

I understand. I drive my husband crazy cause he's always telling me to have security walk me to my car after work if it's dark, etc., and I don't. I know I should, especially since we all know what can happen, but we don't anyway.

As far as that goes, LADIES--- we still have to be careful! There are plenty of women here who can share with us the trauma of being raped more than once. I know for me, I have to remind myself about that. I have the "lightning can't strike 2 times in the same place" mentality. It's just not true, obviously! I know it's easier said then done, I am guilty myself.

Just because we know "the enemy", as you have called him, don't forget there are other dangers out there as well. Not to sound paranoid, but we have to be careful to avoid risky behaviors and situations that we subconsciously put ourselves into. I don't know if we do it cause we've already braved that road, or if we are just not taking the time and effort to care for ourselves.

Just be careful, guys. I've read plenty of posts where I wonder why we put ourselves in certain situations before. Not that anyone deserves anything that's ever happened to us, but we have to take personal responsibility for our own safety when we, of all people, know what can happen. From time to time, I do get a couple of days where I feel confident and not scared of anything. I am glad that you have found confidence through this and are able to go out and be perfectly fine, like you were before the attack.

I know exactly what you mean. At first after the attack, I was afraid of everything. But I think it's less scary now because I think of all of the things I would do now if the same thing happened again. Before, rape was a vague hypothetical, but now since I know it's real, I'm more aware of my surroundings and I feel more secure with myself because I think I could better protect myself now.

It almost feels like you're taking something back when you're not scared anymore.

I'm the opposite...I get nervous in these situations and assume the worst may happen. Once I'm back in my "safety zone", I think back to when I NEVER used to fear for my safety with the assumption that nobody would ever try to hurt me.

Im a little bit worried bout saying this but sometimes i just think well whats the worse that can happen it already has so there's nothing left to b scared of. Im probably being very silly thinking like that but its as if i dont really care

there are days when i feel perfectly fine and others i am scared of my own sahdow. it changes all the time.....so nah you're not wrong for thinking that
