Last week two girls were walking home (up a mountain) and a nice "normal looking" guy offered them a ride up the hill. They said yes and he ended up beating them both up and sexual assulting the other.
Another man is on trail for attacking and raping a young girl (who was also 2 months pregnet). She has been in a coma since the day it happened.
I only live 10 min from my work and I've been walking home with a roll of coins in my hand and bear spay in my purse everynight on the way home.
How are you ever supposed to feel safe? Everytime if there is a man walking behind be after dark I can feel my whole body tense up and start to get anxious.
I feel everytime I open the paper or turn on the news it's another horrible story, another woman's life ruined......

like if you possibly can, walk with someone else...or carpool. driving really is the best if you want to be sure of being safe.
but maybe going along to some self defense classes or similar could help with not feeling helpless.
