Rape Support Group
If you or someone you know has been the victim of rape, this is the place to find support and get advice. If you want, discuss your experience, share your feelings, and meet others going through a similar situation.
Hello, I am new to this group. So I guess the best way to start is by sharing my story.
In march of this year, I had surprised my best friend with tickets to see our favorite country band in a smaller venue downtown. My husband dropped us off to go to dinner before the concert. We had a great dinner and arrive to the concert venue at 7:30 that evening, with the show beginning at 8. We both ordered a drink at the bar, drank it and headed to the show floor. About ten minutes later everything goes black for the both of us.
My friend has a distinct moment where she loses capability of her own movements and speech. And thankfully someone brought her to security and she was watched until they called someone to pick her up.
The next thing I remember it is about five hours later and I am in the back of a fruit warehouse being picked up by an Uber driver. Overtime more has come back to me of what I can price back together. I have very distinct moments where I am aware of what is happening but I cannot stop it, almost as if I am above myself observing this horrific thing happen. But my question is where do I go from here?
I consistently feel his breath/lips on my neck. I feel like somehow I did something wrong because my friend was safe that night and I wasn't. I do not know how to tell my husband, friends or family any of this. If I can't even talk to my husband or best friend where can I go? I can't talk to an therapist so is there another option?
If anyone has anyone advice or anything that can help me I would appreciate it.

I was sexually assaulted as a kid. I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm. He made bad choices and now I am paying the price. Stupid PTSD!
I was molested when I was 5... then kinda forgot about it... ( probably swept under the rug)..
anyway, I totally forgot about that whole day till probably 20 ish yrs later... now I can almost tell you ( generic you) everything about it... except who it was that did it...no clue.
I guess what I'm saying is, you may take a long time to figure out what all happened, or maybe never figure it all out...
You didn't do anything wrong, this isn't on you..at all. Place the blame on who ever put that in your drink, whether the bar tender, or the person who brought you the drink, or who knows...
Any clue if you and your friend were the only ones or were there others??
About your hubby, if you think he can handle it and/or be supportive, then talk..
if he really loves you, hopefully he won't fly off the handle... and he should comfort you, hug you, and let you cry ( he may also)...
Hang in there, you truely not alone...
we are all here to support you!
Why can't you talk to a therapist? You're going to need it because you can't go through this alone or you're going to have nervous breakdown. It's a very traumatic experience and you need all the support you can get. There's a great website called rainn.org and I think you should check it out!
The next time if/when you go to a bar only order something in a can/bottle so you can open it yourself. I never drink anywhere where the container/cup is exposed because you just never know. Big hugs!
I also think you should talk about it to someone close (if not your husband). It took time for me and it seemed so painful and impossible to talk about it to my family but when I did, it was pure relief! But yes if you are not ready to open to your family/friends, we are here for you!
