I have some friends that poke jokes at it....but they don't know about my past.....I usually just give a lecture or a nasty stare....but as for family..... They try to be supportive but counseling was really my mason support and friends......my mom and me disagree on certain things so we don't talk about it....rape is one of those topics......I believe being raped is in no way three victims fault....even if they were drunk, passed out, put themselves in a bad situation, did something stupid, led them on etc....no means no despite what others may judge. My mother however feels that being takes is 50/50 responsibility/fault. My mom belIeves a rape victim is just as responsible as the rapist because of exercising poor judgement, putting yourself in that situation etc.......


I 100% disagree and just come to terms that someone who hasn't been through it will never understand. She honestly believes I am partly to blame for being raped. but even though I disagree shes my mother I love her and she can have her opinion.....as misguided as it is.

I've only heard stand up comedians tackle the rape thing, and I think that's just because it's like their occupational challenge. It's a taboo thing to joke about, so if they can do it successfully, then that gives them some extra points for being super-comics or whatever. But frankly, there's nothing funny about it, and I wish they wouldn't even try.

But like Faultedstars, I do have family member who are "misguided" and believe that a rape is mostly, if not completely the victim's fault for being in that situation to begin with. You're nice enough to call it "misguided" --which is true. I call it having their head up their ass.

I have had people joke about it and i always have to tell them to knock it off. rape is not funny at all. they wont think it is funny if it happens to them. they might not understand why it is not funny. hugs
