I'm new to these boards. I'm so sorry that everyone here had to go through such a traumatic experience :(. My heart really goes out to everyone.
I was assaulted three times. The last assault was the worst. The man who assaulted me is a psychiatrist. I knew him prior to the assault. I had a good experience with the police, but the criminal system ripped me apart and no justice was done. I went to the College of Physicians and Surgeons and they dismissed it because this man was never my doctor. In Canada, it is extremely hard to prove a rape... less than 2% of women are able to get their offender convicted.
I've worked through a lot of stuff and done counseling and had really wonderful friends. I wouldn't be here without them! Still, I continue to struggle with the whole thing. It seems so unfair that this psychiatrist is seeing other vulnerable women and children, perhaps some of who have been raped themselves. I was in the system for 2 years and they didn't do anything. They asked me all the questions and made it sound like I was lying, and didn't ask him anything. Not a single question. The system just revictimzes women. I often wished that I never told the authorities, but I hope I did the right thing in some way...
I still often doubt myself. I sometimes give this man the benefit of the doubt. I sometimes feel like maybe he didn't know what he was doing, but I know realistically this is BS.
The worst part is that I never was interested in men to begin with. I've always been very shy around guys... I've never liked the idea of sex. I've dated before, but even then my boyfriend and I never even kissed. Since I never had sex and did anything intimately before the assault, I think it was worse for me.
I thought I was pregnant and I wasn't... I wanted to keep the baby... so that was really hard when I found out I wasn't. Most people weren't supportive during that time.
I don't know if you have any ideas or suggestions. I've been in counseling since the assault took place. I think it's helped a lot, but still there is a huge hole in my heart. I don't know if I am ever ready to trust again. It feels so sad that I was finally making ground and finally able to trust men again and then this terrible thing happened :(.

Yes, you're right. It's one of the hardest thing any woman (or man) would ever have to go through. Thinking and praying for everyone!
I just wanted to say that I also gave my rapist at first the benefit of the doubt , but now I know for sure that this is not true at all. He knew exactly what he was doing and did it intentionally!
I am happy you can have friends who support you in this.
My rapist wanted to give me a medication to make me abort if I got pregnant. He showed it to me. I did not want that. Luckily that never happened.
I also have a tough time trusting people. I also felt terrible after that experience and took me a lot of time and healing work to overcome that feeling, the emptiness, the sorrow and so on. I still have grief and sadness. I wish you good luck, you are doing it quite well. I was not like that before, I didn't have any adequate help.
