Im so sorry for what you went through. It's a horrible thing. Anniversaries for me varied. Most years, I remembered them. A couple times I forgot. I didn't freak out on anniversaries either. I don't know the answer you seek, but I sent you a great link that might answer some of your questions. If you need more help after that, perhaps seeing a therapist?
I think you do remember it, just not certain details. I don't think you have suppressed it because you are writing about it. Please call the number I sent you. And/or see someone for these answers.
I guess my question to you is do you feel better than you felt then?
At frist it was pretty bad for me; then it eased up. But, when it comes to my mind, I either feel very angry or guilty that I should have done something to prevent it. but that makes no sense.
My therapist was very reasuring in the sense that when I asked him if I had to describe every humiliating detail to him, he explained it was unnecessary to begin to deal with it. So I wouldn't say there's anything wrong if you don't feel exactly as a textbook case. We all deal differently and at a different pace.
