I was raped 16 years ago and still to this day can't go into detail about what happened, i can tell you basics but only just without vomiting. Its like the words are unspeakable. I know it won't even begun to heal until i do but who knows when or if that day will ever come 1
I hope you are able to find the strength to share your pain eventually, you deserve to be happy xxx
The when doing the statement, I first wrote to her, through emails. It was easier that way, as then I could colapse , cry etc.. in my own space..Then what we did, she went through the details with me, re-writing everything. It took a few weeks , as we had to do it in sections , as there where so many assults, to go through. Our goal was 5 with strong evidence etc.. and we got through them.
When it was over, she just went - we're done.
I was so gone it was like re-living it , but when she said those words, it was like a weight had been lifted. All the poison, heavyness, the uglyness and pain had suddenly come out and was on paper and someone had validated it, listened and supported me through it...that was the most amazing feeling, as it had been such a huge secret for so long....
After it, I was mess for almost a week, I had help from friends etc..as I could hardly function. I went very cold and was shaking really bad and I was in shock, like I had just gone through it again....Still it was the best, even if I thought I would go mad from it , as from then on , I started healing big time... I just wonder if that could be an option, to write about it first to the councellor or therapist through emails and then talk about what you can and stop , if it gets too much...This way you can react at home the first time and then hopefully it will be a little more bareble..
