I've experienced a few instances of sexual violence and sometimes I honestly just feel like I will never feel okay again.. The most recent time was at the beginning of this year and though I feel that I have made great strides in making progress towards healing, I just feel like I still won't ever be quite the same. I hate how these experiences have impacted me and how they contribute to certain struggles/triggers I experience in my daily life. I try to remind myself that some day, once I am at a better place with the trauma I've experienced, I'll be able to help others who have experienced similar trauma.. but sometimes I'm just not sure how I am ever going to be okay again. I apologize for being negative or pessimistic, I am just having a very hard time coping right now. To anyone reading this, thank you for taking the time to just listen, I am hoping getting this off my chest can help some.
I do believe you can get to a point where you can help others through similar experiences. I was once where you are, and I thought I would never get over it. I thought it would haunt me for the rest of my life, because I thought I was forever tainted and broken, and that anyone who ever came into contact with me could tell that I was tainted and broken. I thought I was just ruined, damaged goods forever, no hope of repair. None of that is true. It wasn't true for me, and it's not true for you, or anyone else.
It changes the way people move through life, and it changes the way you look at the world. But in these moments where I can reach out to someone who is where you are, and I can say, "I was there, and it took a lot of time and work, but now I'm here, where you're saying you want to be." It's a hell of a thing. It's a tremendous undertaking. But you deserve to heal.
