Rape Support Group
If you or someone you know has been the victim of rape, this is the place to find support and get advice. If you want, discuss your experience, share your feelings, and meet others going through a similar situation.

To be up front, I was assigned to join a support group by one of my classes, so this is my first time doing anything like this. However, I am hoping to get the most out of this opportunity so, here it is.
A little over a year ago, I was raped on my college campus. It took me a while to realize what had actually happened. I wasn't able to report it by the time I grasped the bigger picture and regret it all the time. I have started seeing a counselor but I dont really feel like its going anywhere.
Now Im just angry. I sometimes see him around campus and I just want to smash his ugly face into the ground and beat his head to a pulp with my bare hands. Im angry that he got away with it, and that it happened at all. Im angry at myself for even buying his bullshit to begin with and for keeping such rotten company. Im angry at the person he has turned me into - bursting into tears at the right triggers, and every time I see him. I feel like the emotions are beyond my control, as is the situation, and I hate that he still seems to dictate how I feel because of what happened.
I just want to move away from it, all of it. I dont want to be angry and hurt and sad and broken all the time. In the back of my head trudging through memories i wish i didnt even have. I just want to let go of everything and move on confidently and surely. But I dont know how, or where to start.

i'm so sorry that that happened to you...my first rape happened on my college campus and a few days after the rape i left and i plan to never go back to that campus....you're on the right path....therapy takes time to work, so please don't give up on it....the feelings that you feel are normal as well....if i were you i would try to find healthy coping skills that help you with everything that you're going through...we can help if you ask......with the anger that you're feeling it might be helpful to punch a pillow and scream in the pillow...maybe take a kickboxing class to get that rage out...hope this helped....if you wanna talk, feel free to message me

Honestly I think I release most of my anger by talking about social justice issues - But physical activity like kickboxing does sound appealing. I also have extremely vivid and violent nightmares always themes around sexual assault/rape . . .thats one of the worst things that I really feel like I can do nothing about. I was thinking about trying a different counselor but I can help but feel like I have already been through so much before this without counseling, and that it won't help as much as I hope. But I really appreciate the advice. And response. :)
