You're not an ass. It is normal, considering what you've been through. I'm not going to urge you to rush out & get therapy. Don't worry about proper feelings right now. Just ride it out & pretty soon things will come together again.

it is completely normal after a tramatic event. There is a period of detachment. It is a protective mechanism by your subconsious brain to protect you from more pain.

It does not mean that it will always be this way. Just understand it is part of the PTSD and give yourself a break.

I think it's true we do get emotionally numb at first. It's like we think the world is a terrible place and we stop caring about what happens in it. I'm still that way to some extent. Like when there's a car accident everybody slows down to look, but I'm like fuckit I don't care what happened.

I study mortuary science, so to me, death is not a big deal. I rarely feel sad when I see dead people on the news and such. You are not abnormal.

Do you have people who care about and can sympathize with you? I don't think your an ass. I don't always like to give better than I get so when I feel like that it's a sure sign that I need support.

Yes what u went thru is perfectly normal. I do the exact same thing. Seems like the more healing I get the better I get at blowing things off and not caring about someone elses problems because I know I dont have to when people of the past had tried to convince me that "their" problems are my problems to solve for them,, and it's not. So now I just laugh and laugh like u do. Someone across town told me their neighbor refuses to put their dog on a leash. Now she hopes the dog gets killed running out into the street or stepped on. I know it's awful but what else r u gonna think needs to happen in order for dog owners to protect their pets.
My cares for human life has been dead a long time ago. I've been thru too much. Not too faund of the human spieces. I love animals. They dont bother anybody unless u teach them too. Most men u can train as long as their mothers haven't caused them to be too far gone and untrainable. A puppy, u can always train, they're always trainable.
I think u r finding out for yourself that nobody really cares about anybody unless u were raised with love and raised by parents who actually did love u and want the best for u.
