so, sorry i keep on posting here, but recently things about my rape have been on my mind and i can't stop thinking sbout it.....so i had a dream last night with M in it.....not very surrpising, i was expecting it, but what i wasn't expecting was what happened in the dream.....so in my dream M was there and it slipped out that i told someone and he looked at me and dragged me in a room and beat me and then raped me again the exact same way with the slaps, choking, gag and everything......then he said to me,"lie to them.....tell everyone that you told that it was a lie adn that you did for attention..." i shook my head no and he raped again, except this tiem it was worse.....and after the rape he would tell me to tell people that i lied and then would i would refuse he would rape me again.....after raping me for the fourth time i finally agreed to tell everyone that i lied and then he smiled and then raped me again even though i was screaming,"i promise i will!!! please stop!!!!! i promise i'll tel lthem!!!! please!!! stop!!!!" my thing is, is this normal??? to have a dream like this???? i mean, i think it may be from the fact that i want it all to be a lie or the fact that i'm lying to my family right now, telling them that everything is fine, when it clearly isn't.....does this make any sense??? does anyone have an i dea of what it means????
Sometimes Post Traumatic Stess Disorder can cause recurring dreams and memories of the trauma.
No one can interpret another's dream, but going out on a limb: Maybe this dream is telling you that keeping what he did a secret, or not telling your family and the community about what really happened, won't stop the trauma. I don't know if that makes sense, but it seems like it is saying that you will feel pain and have to live with the trauma even if you avoid talking about it (which is probably what he would prefer). Perhaps the dream is indicating that revealing the trauma to others will help to stop him from raping again, or will help you process the trauma so that you can eventually escape from it.
She is absolutely right--you are not to blame for the trauma, and so perhaps the dream is telling you that you could not avert it since the rape was caused by the decisions of the rapist and the responsibility belongs to him.
