I am so excited! Don't you just feel great?!!

Not really. I didn't sleep much last night, and I had nightmares that my book was returned to me anonymously by someone who had marked up thousands of typos and inaccuracies. This has actually been the third time to have that nightmare. I'm shaking with nerves about it.

It seems like a common ideal amongst mere mortals to doubt oneself....please do not do that...I am absolutely positive that we will love it! And the word about this wonderful book that you have poured so much of your life's blood into will spread with wild abandon....We will all see to that! Can't wait to post an Amazon once I have finished the book!

I am so excited for you! You should be proud....and an interesting after thought....every since I have preordered this book, I see turtles, turtles everywhere...turtle stickers on cars, turtles on t-shirts...real live turtles in a lake in the mountains...makes me think of you!

Oh, I'm sorry about the nerves thing. I know that has to be a natural response to this. I guess the fear of our greatest dreams and accomplishments not being accepted by others is probably the worst form of self doubt. But, you, your editor, and your co-authors should rest at ease. Remember, I've seen it raw and unpolished. I am a professional. And, I happen to have the life experience to qualify my critique. I was amazed. I was awed and inspired. I am eagerly awaiting this work, because it inspires me TO work. You fear because you care. Thank you for caring!

I'm not confused by the nerves, just annoyed. After all, this is EXACTLY what happens to my patients almost immediately after the tell and process their rape stories for the first time--they feel good, and then get swept away in waves of self-doubt and insecurity! "What if it's wrong? What if I have it wrong? What if I'm rejected now?"

This is MY story I'm telling, as much as the stories of my patients. I'm opening myself. And I'm going through EXACTLY what the women in my groups go through. I know that, and it helps to realize I'm just experiencing normal feelings. It's just annoying. It'll stop when I get feedback from all of you.
