I'm new to this group, however been on this website before. Why I didn't do this sooner....I suppose I just wasn't ready for it all yet. I've worked a lot to get the point I'm at now, where I think I can finally admit what happened to me.
Right now I'm 17. It happened when I was 14 and I was walking home from school. I had already been bullied both verbally and physically for a long time, long before anything like this happened. It had just become usual routine, but nothing had after happened after school was done. I wasn't expecting anything, but I was walking home late one day. When I passed by, a felt someone jump at me and grab me from behind. They pulled behind a building and immediately started to take my clothes off. I couldn't tell who it was, but I was crying and screaming and no one heard me. I didn't know until after it had happened that it was the same guys who had been bullying me for such a long time. They had videotaped it and used the tape to threaten me. They had already bullied me for a such long time that I got scared, so I never told anyone. I kept quiet about it until it was year later, and it had already happened more times than just the once. I only got over my fear and told the police what happened then. It was possibly the scariest thing I've ever experienced, but they were convicted a few months after that.
Since I've been diagnosed with severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic disorder, as well as sleep apnea. I have been near agoraphobia for a while, but I've been working really hard to not go there. Some days it still get's me. Things have always been hard since, and everything changed after that. It wasn't like I was perfectly okay before it happened, but emotionally I could deal with physical abuse better than rape. I wish that I could go back to the way I had been before, but I honestly don't think it will ever happen.
Joining this group, I hope I can get start working to maybe move past it. Even if not a lot, just a few less flashbacks and anxiety would be really helpful right now. At my home life I don't have proper support, so here may be a step in the right direction.

I am so sorry that that happened to you. I'm glad that they were convicted and kudos to you for telling the police. I was in the same boat as far as not getting the support that I needed at home. I find this site really helpful and I found support from friends and my therapist. I think it's great that you're working with everything that has been dealt your way since then. PTSD sucks and for me it gets really bad around my anniversaries but usually calms down after those pass. If you'd like to talk, please feel free to message me

So sorry for all you've endured. You're very brave to come forward to the police. It's probably one of the hardest things to do . So glad they were prosecuted. My rape took me many years to talk about and be able to remember parts of it thanks to EMDR therapy. That's what really helped me. It changes you and you're never the same when you get raped unfortunately . ((((Hugs))) healing is possible
