By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

An academic at the University of Swansea (UK) is doing an important study of the emotional and psychological impact of having a DVT/ PE. We all know that it has a very big impact on our lives and lives of those around us and that is why this forum is so important. Certainly, I don't think I would've got through my PE if it had not been for all your help.
