Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I was on anti-depressants for anxiety when I had my PE, and have had to increase the dosage since the PE. I use Prozac, and nobody has ever seemed concerned about interactions. In fact, we were more concerned about making sure that I kept up on the anti-depressant at the time the PE hit!
I'm glad I was already on them before the PE, because my anxiety has still been ridiculous since it all happened. I also have a prescription of xanax to take in my extreme, extreme anxiety/panic attack moments, but thankfully, those are getting fewer now.
I'm in counseling too, and was already doing that leading up to the PE as well. And I am so thankful that I've had that outlet this whole time!! I actually called my counselor from the hospital!!
It has been more help than any of the meds, for sure, just having that outside person to talk me through my fears, and help me continue to plan out my future, one day at at time.
(((HUGS))) It's a tough road for sure, and I'm sorry you are on it. I think you should definitely talk with your doc about all of this and your concerns and find out what might be best for you, because your mental health is just as important as all of the physical stuff too!!
