Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
BUT ... if you are having a lot of anxiety over it, I would get it checked out. Can your GP call the hospital and tell them you are on your way to get a scan? Everytime I've gone in, my doc has let them know I was coming ahead of time. Cut down on the waiting and I got right in.
Best wishes! Keep us posted!
My INR was low though-- only 1.5. This is the lowest it's ever been. I don't know why it got so low: can biorythmic changes (eg jetlag and time differences) mess with the balance? Otherwise, I did eat a big sushi meal about three days ago...seaweed has a lot of vitamin k.
I still feel anxious because I'm having chest pain, and the doctor told me to be vigilant if I feel out of breath. I'm choosing for now to attribute the chest pain to anxiety, since I'm able to take big breaths and sing well etc,
Thanks for listening everyone. In the end, it was worth going, if only for some peace of mind. I just wish GPS could do dopplers and xrays themselves though! These mandatory trips to the ER get so tiring,,,
