By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
During and for the first 3 or 4 weeks after my PE, my BP was very low: around 100 or 110 and my heart rate was on the high side between 80 and 100. The BP then, slowly, climbed back to normal range and the heart right got down to between 70 and 80.
For the past week or so, my BP's been very high, peaking at 15/106 on Wednesday and 169/99 yesterday. Both days, I ran my errands and checked the BP again when I was about to leave and both times it was lower, but still quite high in the 140's for the systolic and the 90's for the diastolic. And heart rate seems to be stay at 98 or so.
Any one else experience this? Pre-PE, I had slightly elevated BP, but the systolic never got over 140 though the diastolic would often be in high 80's or low 90's. I've never, ever had a reading of over 150 for the systolic or over 100 for the diastolic, even when I was 60 pounds heavier and a heavy smoker!

Mine is now a little high for me. 130/76. I stopped my warfarin this week (on Tuesday). I am very excited about being done with my meds, but my high blood pressure makes me wonder if I'm a little anxious about it too. Hopefully in a week or so it will go back to normal.

Yesterday, it was much better at 135/85. Still high, but within normals.
