By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Yhank you all for the replys I really did not know if I was doing this right.Sometimes you say things that might come out wrong because of the circumstances were all going throug.I have been through so much sincs 1996 with 6 back surgeries up till a year ago.I had a pacemaker removed that I had inside me for 3 and a half years Last year I thought it was the beginning of a new journey towards another recovery in which the odds were against me once again.I was able to make it back to work and thought that I really was going to make it with Gods help,but instead I needed him to save me from the PE.On March 9 Iwoke up with a pain in my left rib cage didnt think much of it,just thought it was another pain from possibly just sleeping on the wrong side.I went to work and the pain level was at about a 2 or 3,on my way home after an 8 hour day I stopped to get gas,the hole way to Marathon the pain was getting worse .When I finally tried to get out of the car my left side was really bad I was able to pump my gas and make it homeI tried a heating pad for about 10 minutes on my side it didnt work.I had a really bad feeling that something was wrong so I thought I would lay down,but when I tried to it felt like Mike Tyson just knocked me out with a punch to the side,and my breathing was slowly getting worse after a few more minutes everything just really went to another level.I had my wife call for a ambulance they put me on a IV before they brought me out and said I was a candidate for a kidney stone with mycomplaints.Next they gave me a shot of morphine,they were wheeling me out and I remember taking 1 last look at my wife and kids and thinking I was done for it.I could not breathe by the time I got to the hospital,after 5 hours and all kinds of x-rays,finally a cat-scan with contrast said I had a PE with clots on both sides.It was really devastating to hear I thought this was one I was not going to be able to recover from.Two days later they told me I had Factor V Leiden.Its been really 6 weeks of torture even after all those surgeries this really is something much more difficult to deal with.Now I am getting tired I really appreciate the feedback,sometimes family members and even spouses dont get what were going through it helps to know there is some support out there and your not the only one out there.I will pray for everyone and hope to chat soon,Thanks Again
As another member on here told me when I first joined the group, "God isn't done with you yet". Thank God you survived the back surgeries and that you were properly diagnosed at the ER w/multiple PEs. I was just diagnosed on 3/3/09 and tested negative for factor V but have learned since the test that I should wait until off Coumadin to be tested again along w/other tests that check for Protein S deficinency and other stuff that could be reason why it happened to me. For now, I am amongst the "mystery" clotters. I will keep you in my prayers.

You've certainly had a tough time of it :o( It's a common theme about family and friends not understanding, that's why this site is so great.
I already had a disease which affects my lungs but the fear I felt and still do feel overshadows everything. It's a very scary place to be but there's always someone on here to listen if you need a chat *hugs*

It sounds like you have had an horrific ordeal from the start, and I am so sorry to hear about all your problems, However God never gives us more than we can handle and what ever doesn't kill us certainly makes us stronger. Dang I should be the strongest woman in the world right about now huh?
I am a 3 time multiple PE survivor and God definitely hasn't finished with me yet, although sometimes i wonder. Just remember your not in this alone and you will always have your new little online family to come too when you have questions or concerns or just a shoulder to cry on, and yes it's OK for Men to cry too, trust me on this one.
