Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Hi everybody,
today I went for my scheduled appointment with the lung doctor, which was ordered by my gp because since November my situation has been declining a bit (the discomfort/pain, tiredness and occasional shortness of breath I wrote about in different posts).
The lung doctor looked at my recent perfusion scan and said that besides the infarction I still have some blockage in the arteries, due to unresolved clots.
He will speak with another lung doctor in a bigger hospital in order to decide how to handle my recovery. He said this could mean going back on blood thinners or (small chance, and not considered as first measure probably) surgery.
In the meantime, I just have to sit and wait to be called back for another lung appointment. I don't have signs of pulmonary hypertension or heart suffering so far, but they told me to take it easy with physical activity (cardiovascular) and to avoid too much work-related stress.
Sorry for coming here to rant about my issues every time, it is just that it feels good to speak with people who know how I feel. That is, incredibly tired of this experience :/
