By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

My experience was similar. Everyone told me I was lucky to be alive, but I was discharged after a week with no idea what to look out for or how long recovery would take.
I have since trawled the internet and found places like this, which have been fantastic.
Expect to feel tired, breathless, anxious and have trouble sleeping. You've been through a major trauma physically and emotionally, and you will need time to trust your body again.
I feel that I've turned a corner just this week, after 2 months. So hang in there!
