Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
My recovery has been pretty good though. I'm still injecting 100mg of Clexane (heparin), but yesterday I had a Doppler scan of my leg and the clots are gone. I also had V/Q scan of my lungds, but don't know the results yet. From what my doctor said, I will not be taking any tablet blood thinners, but he will stop heparin when my lung clots resolve. Then I will have additional tests to see whether I'm in danger of clotting, which seems quite unlikely since my PE was following DVT caused by an injury.
Since last week, I am also back at work full time (computer job). I don't have any symptoms (pain in my lungs, coughing, SOB) except for extreme tiredness. Really extreme! I sleep for 10-12 hours and I still wake up tired and find it difficult to last the whole day at work :-(. Started rehab for my knee and elbow (it was also badly injured) which is quite painful and taking its toll on my overall state.
Wish you all quick recovery!
@Thankful2balive please call your doctor and let them know how you are feeling. If they don't do anything go to the ER. Its not good that you are still having chest pain and on the left side. That pain can be coming from your heart. So please go get checked. I am not a doctor but I wouldn't wait. I wish you all the best and I will be praying for you.
I wish you all a fast recovery and may God bless you all.
My DVT and PE was 9 months ago because of a surgery, my chest feels fine now though the leg has issues because of knee surgery and the DVT. So things do improve over time. Its faster for some and slower for others but definitely they get better.
